Learning Tools International Commits to the SIF Schools Interoperability Framework Initiative

Santa Rosa, California - November 11, 1999 - Learning Tools International (LTI) announced today that it is participating in the Schools Interoperability Framework Industry Initiative (SIF) as a charter member of the original SIF working groups. The Schools Interoperability Framework is an industry initiative to develop a standard for ensuring that K-12 instructional and administrative software applications can share information seamlessly. SIF originated as a working group of more than 17 leading education software vendors and customers with the leadership of Microsoft Corporation and is now managed by the Software & Information Industry Association.

For more than 20 years, Learning Tools International has been a national leader in providing administrative software for Special Education and other specialized programs. Learning Tools began with the development and implementation of the Individualized Planning System™ (IPS), used by thousands of educators throughout the United States. IPS revolutionized the way educators tracked the progress of students, created Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and maintained compliance with all state and federal requirements.

GoalView™ is Learning Tools' revolutionary new Internet-based performance information system for educators, students and parents. GoalView helps educators, students, parents and others in the community to improve achievement of goals and standards, establish accountability for completion of goals and standards, and enable accessibility to comprehensive individual and group performance information.

Using GoalView saves staff time on administrative tasks, reduces paperwork, simplifies state and federal reporting, tracks school and district-wide accountability and reports progress with GoalCards™. GoalView meets the needs of K-14 General Education, Special Education, Title 1, Staff Development and University Training.

Learning Tools' success is in part due to its partnerships with technical and educational leaders including:
  • Charter member of the Schools Interoperability Framework Initiative (SIF)
  • Microsoft® Software Development Network partner
  • Adobe® Systems Development partner
  • Information Technology provider to thousands of school districts throughout the United States
  • Member of the international Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA)
  • Business sponsor with the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE)
  • Strategic business partner with The Council For Exceptional Children (CEC)
  • Advisor to Congressional Subcommittee on IDEA requirements for progress reporting (now IDEA law)
