Jersey City Public Schools Chooses GoalView for Intervention and Special Education Student Information Management

GoalView™ Specialized Student Information System -- Accountability for Special Education, Intervention, Title 1 and Other Specialized Student Programs --

SANTA ROSA, CA -- Learning Tools International, a long time provider of specialized student information management systems, today announced an agreement with the Jersey City Public Schools to provide Intervention (RTI) student information management for the district. Jersey City is currently implementing GoalView for their Special Education information management.

GoalView is a web-based student information management system for Special Education, Intervention, ELL and other educational programs that provide Individualized Learning Plans (IEPs), Progress Reporting and State and Federal Compliance Reporting to ensure accountability and improve achievement. GoalView provides a simple, consistent way to plan and track student achievement, improve accountability, ensure compliance, facilitate communication and improve collaboration.

Learning Tools has customized the GoalView Special Education management system for Jersey City Public Schools starting with the Referral through the IEP process. The addition of the Intervention (RTI) Module for early intervening services provides the complete process of identifying and monitoring students who need additional instructional support.

Introduced in 1999, GoalView has since been implemented in over 100 school districts around the country to help achieve goals mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act, and the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).

“GoalView has a proven track record in helping educators and children stay on track as they work together to achieve their specialized program goals,” said Cathy Zier, President, Learning Tools International. “We feel confident that our attention to detail and customized efforts to help meet the needs of special children will result in a positive outcome.”

Priscilla Petrosky, Associate Superintendent, states: “Data driven systems are a requirement for managing successful education programs. It’s imperative for us to know what skills a child has, and what services and progress they have made so we can provide early intervening services successfully. We have been implementing our Special Education information management system, and now we are focusing on the intervention tools for managing student success for all students. GoalView provides the entire process for us.”

Learning Tools International is led by President and General Manager, Cathy D. Zier. Before joining Learning Tools in 1998, Ms Zier spent thirteen years as a Special Education professional, implementing student information management systems, teacher training, as well as state and local technology programs. She also spent 10 years with Apple Computer working in national and international sales, organizational design and customer management.
