The Learning Tools Team
Learning Tools' management team includes experts
in education technology and computer science:
President: Cathy D. Zier, holds an
M.A. in Education from the University of Tennessee, and has won a
variety of national awards in educational technology. Before joining
Learning Tools, Cathy spent thirteen years as a Special Education
professional, implementing student information management systems,
teacher training, as well as state and local technology programs.
She then went on to apply her education systems and management knowledge
to Apple Computer, where for over ten years she worked in national
and international sales, organizational design and customer management,
receiving numerous regional and national achievement awards along
the way.
Vice President of Engineering: Natalie Sipes, holds a B.A. in Mathematics from
the University of North Carolina, was on the President’s List, received the
Most Outstanding Mathematics Student award, and was a member of the Gamma Beta
Phi Honor Society. Natalie has been responsible for the development of GoalView
since mid-2000 and is experienced in Microsoft Visual Basic, VB.NET, ASP, ASP.NET,
SQL Server, C, C++, and UNIX. Prior to joining LTI, Natalie developed secure
fingerprint capture, case management and image processing applications, and
worked with an independent contractor to the U.S. Army Night Vision Laboratory,
Fort Belvoir, Virginia on a research project to develop a method of quantifying
characteristics of satellite images. She has also developed software used to
simulate sensor and sensor detection for 2-D graphical battle training software.
Director of IT/Senior Web Engineer: Michael R. Paul, holds an A.A.S. in
Electrical Engineering & Computer Technology, and has 16 years experience in
commercial and business related software development and is experienced in
Microsoft Visual Basic, .NET, ASP, HTML/XML, JAVA, SOAP, SQL Server, C, C++,
and LINUX. Currently, Michael serves as a core software development resource to
Learning Tools along with management of all technical hardware related systems
and network topology. Before joining Learning Tools, Michael developed artificial
intelligence software for Brightware Inc. His responsibilities included the
development and maintenance of low-level components along with the development
of GUI front-end software. And for several years Michael was a key player in the
development of children’s entertainment software for the Windows platform. Previous
to this Michael developed sales & finance software for the auto industry.
